WHAT BRINGS US JOY #1 WITH VALERIE LINK AND HELENA BLÖCKER

2019 has been quite an awesome year, and of course all our traveling to all these exotic and beautiful places may certainly have contributed to that a great deal. But the real ingredient to feeling that peaceful inside and joyful was my intentional “putting away my phone” and living life in the slow lane.

At first it was hard and I felt pretty anxious, because everyone else seems to running around and doing a million things. It was tough to freeing up that scaring and competitive space in my mind and the social pressure of being at the right place with the right people at the right time, comparing my life to others.

This summer I had been offline for over seven weeks to only realize that the world still kept spinning around. Being offline gave me the wonderful chance to be more intentional with my time and energy, setting my priorities straight and spending time with the people I care about the most.

I read many inspiring books and articles about “JOMO – the joy of missing out”, living life in the slow lane and embracing offline time. It was quite interesting to learn that screen time can affect our happiness, and that our striving for instant gratification of the likes, our short-term attention and meaningless busyness and “FOMO” (the fear of missing out) are serious addictions, and I was quite determined to change my bad habits into good ones.

Spending less time in front of our screens gives us more opportunities to see and find joy. Joy isn’t hard to find at all, in fact it’s all around us. So in the spirit of this season, and to continue experiencing JOMO, and finding joy in the little things away from our phones, I made this fun little movie. And who better to kick off this joyful series with than my beautiful friend and partner-in-crime Valerie Link who is joy and positive energy made visible. And as our spontaneous luck would have it, our good friend Helena Blöcker immediately joined in the fun.

Please enjoy our fun little reel and be inspired. THEN put your phone away and enjoy some delicious goodness at the Christmas market. 😉
