In today’s „Coffee Talk“ I welcome the wonderful Stefanie who is not only incredibly kind and super humorous, but who’s also such an inspiration to talk to and be around. Stefanie had hit rock bottom several times in her life. She could have just very well given up every time when life threw her another curveball. But instead, she got back up on her feet again and learned how to deal with it and not lose her humor, which I love about her. Seeking professional help and guidance not only gave her a new perspective on life, but also equipped her with the right tools. Stefanie learned to no longer ask the question „Why did this happen to me?“, but instead think more solution-oriented „What do I need to get through this?“. These tools helped her to move forward, even when it felt impossible to do.
The first time we met I realized we have so many things in common: Suffering from postnatal depression and being fully crushed by the weight of the diagnosis of our child with special needs. Getting back up on our feet again and returning to a place of peace, love and purpose. We are both quite active with campaign work and advocacy in our charity groups. Stefanie’s second son, Philipp, was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, also known as brittle bones disease, a disorder that results in fragile bones that break easily. Stefanie also loves quotes as much as I do. Sometimes, just one quote can feed your soul, carry you through the whole day and help you in the long process of healing.
Thank you so much, Stefanie, for being so honest and vulnerable here and sharing your story … and your sweet lines (I, too, can’t wait for our next mentoring session! You’re such a keen and fun student!). You encourage optimism and your positive can-do attitude in the face of adversity is definitely contagious. You are one of those people who definitely make lemonade when life gives you lemons. But may I add: You not only make lemonade, you make Margarita! Or you add a little salt and tequila! 😉
Please enjoy our little interview below, be inspired and remember, you’re not alone in whatever you’re facing right now. We’re all in this together!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
